“The artist is nothing without the gift, but the gift is nothing without work.” — Emile Zola

The details —
Our residencies and retreats are open call and run throughout the year.
The programme is open to visual and literary artists, including writers, painters, photographers, printmakers, illustrators, textile artists and other creatives who are looking for a supportive and comfortable space to work on their projects.
The residencies and retreats are short-term and self-funded — usually lasting between 2 days to two weeks — and can be tailormade according to individual needs and requirements.
There are two self-catering units: The Garden Cottage and the Courtyard Room. If required, both units can be converted into twin rooms by prior arrangement, and for larger groups, workshops or events, we work with our accommodation partners. Please visit our guest accommodation page for more information.
Children or partners are welcome, and we are pet-friendly by prior arrangement. We do however kindly ask visiting guests to be mindful of the working environment in the studio space.
There are no obligatory artist requirements, but those who would like to are invited to participate in our Postcard Project — where we provide the material support and ask visiting artists to leave behind a postcard-sized study, sketch, doodle or note. All participants will be invited to their exhibition at a later date.
Contact us for more information about our rates and availability, or sign up to our newsletter to find out about our upcoming events and workshops.
““I have an idea that the only thing which makes it possible to regard this world we live in without disgust is the beauty which now and then men create out of the chaos. The pictures they paint, the music they compose, the books they write, and the lives they lead. Of all these the richest in beauty is the beautiful life. That is the perfect work of art.” — W. Somerset Maugham
